People often associate the harp with the sound of angels, and they feel comforted by the beautiful music it produces. RestorativeTherapeutic Harp Sessions with Margaret Germain bring comforting and relaxing harp music to individuals who can benefit from the sounds of a soothing harp. The gentle sounds provide a restful atmosphere for people in pain, recovering from illness, or for people in need of stress relief. Live harp music played in a quiet private setting by a therapeutic harpist has been shown to help relax, soothe, reduce stress, distract from pain, uplift and even bring joy to patients, Margaret sensitively plays music that suites the needs of each individual patient, carefully watching and playing as their needs change. She has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University, has trained in the specialized field of Therapeutic Harp Music and is a Certified Therapeutic Musician. Margaret is also a Certified K-12 Music Teacher and Special Education Teacher and worked with handicapped students at Oak Park School in Sarasota as their Music Teacher for eight years.
A Restorative Therapeutic Harp session uses the power of restful, meditative harp music to create a beautiful space for healing energy. Margaret brings one of her small or medium size therapy harps to your location. Each individual 45 minute harp therapy session starts out with a brief welcome as the client gets comfortable, and then the music starts. The music is played to match the client’s needs at that time. This is not a private harp concert. It is a therapeutic session played specifically to help to facilitate physical, emotional or spiritual healing. Music touches every aspect of your being. It can release emotions and bring about calmness. The human body is not designed to function in a state of chronic stress, so a Restorative Therapeutic Harp Session can help lessen stress and restore balance.
There is much current research about the benefits of Sound Healing and Harp Therapy, including the lowering of blood pressure, entrainment of the heart (the heart beats at the slow, gentle tempo of the music), and lessening of stress indicators. The harp’s many vibrating strings are felt throughout the body, even on a cellular level.
Margaret personally experienced healing after suffering a series of 12 miscarriages from an overactive immune system. To help with her sadness, she bought a beautiful Celtic Folk Harp. Every day, after a busy and stressful day of teaching music, she would come home and hold the harp, play it gently, and let her tears and grief flow out with the music. The music calmed and relaxed her. A year later she gave birth to a healthy, full term, baby boy. Margaret has experienced the benefit of harp music in her life almost every day since then. Now she is ready to share the benefits of Restorative Therapeutic Harp Music with her clients.
